Storm Thorgerson: Graphic Designers You Should Know About

On this episode of our ‘Graphic Designers You Should Know About in 50 Seconds’ series, we explore the revolutionary career of Storm Thorgerson. A co-founder of the legendary design collective Hipgnosis alongside Aubrey Powell, Thorgerson transformed music design with his iconic album covers, including Pink Floyd’s groundbreaking The Dark Side of the Moon.

After Hipgnosis, Thorgerson founded StormStudios with designer Peter Curzon, bringing together a team of talented creatives, including photographer Rupert Truman and later designer and illustrator Dan Abbott. Together with a changing team of freelancers, StormStudios produced iconic album covers for artists like Muse, Audioslave, and The Cranberries, creating visuals that pushed boundaries and left a lasting impact on both music and design.
